I’m here to support academic scientists, science writers, and biotech companies to communicate better in English.
Scientific Background
Born and educated in the UK, I obtained my BSc in Zoology from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and my PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Reading.
In 2012, I moved to Frankfurt, Germany to start a postdoc at the Senckenberg Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre.
In 2015, I left academia to work in the scientific software industry, specialising in user-friendly bioinformatics software tools. I’ve mostly worked as a field applications scientist for the last nine years.

Copy Editing and Proofreading
I have authored and edited a wide range of scientific texts tailored for different audiences. These include a PhD thesis, peer-reviewed journal articles, grant proposals, magazine articles, blogs, website copy, user documentation, marketing brochures, presentation slide decks, training material, posters, and more.
I am from the UK and I have spent most of the last decade working for American companies, so I am familiar with UK and US English. As part of my proofreading training, I also covered Australian and Canadian English.
I hold a general proofreading certification from Proofread Anywhere LLC. As part of the course, I consolidated my basic and advanced grammar knowledge, practiced proofreading dozens of texts, and learned how to conform to standard style guides (e.g. CMOS).
